Lord, as we approach Memorial Day weekend we pray for Peace. We pray not only for the peace that comes after war or a man-made peace forged by politicians. We pray for peace that passes all understanding. We long for the day when you will be our Peace. We wait for the days which Isaiah the prophet saw when the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as chief among the mountains; when it is raised above the hills, and all the nations stream to it. We wait for that day when many people will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob” for there you will teach us your ways so we will walk in your paths. Lord, let your law go out from Zion and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Judge between the nations and settle disputes for many people. Then will we beat our swords into plowshares and our spears into pruning hooks; and nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will we train for war anymore. In Jesus’ Name. Amen
