What We Believe

Who we are…

We are people just like you. We are sinners and readily admit it. We are saved by grace. We are born again. We are waiting for Jesus’ return.

We believe in the Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. We love Israel and the Jewish people. We believe in the lineage of Adam to Jesus. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God; God in the flesh – the Messiah. We believe He dwells among us – Immanuel.

We believe the Bible to be God-breathed; the divinely inspired, literal Word of God. We hold both the New Testament and the Old Testament to be equivocally inspired, equivocally true and equivocally relevant. We believe the Old Testament is a prophetic precursor, telling of the coming Messiah, and that the New Testament fulfills that prophesy. We believe the New Testament is the new and final covenant.

We believe that all of creation fell with the first original sin. We believe in the pattern of covenant relationship established through the accounts of Adam, Abraham, Moses and David.  We believe that Jesus was crucified upon a cross, the Lamb slain before the foundations of the world. We believe He rose from the dead. We believe He has ascended to the Father. We believe that it is ONLY through His death and resurrection that we are redeemed. We believe that the only way to the Father is through the Son. We believe that we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus and not by our own works.

We believe in the Holy Spirit. We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are active today. We believe in water baptism. We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the universality of the Gospel message; that the works of Christ on the cross and His resurrection from the grave are sufficient for every man, every woman and every child; regardless of sex, age, race, religion, culture, language, geographic location, sexual orientation, past indiscretions, current belief system or any other self-identifier we may have missed – all one must do is ask, believe, repent. We must be born again.

We believe that the day is coming when every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord.  We believe that day is coming soon.

Who we are not…

We are not a church. We are not affiliated with any church.  We are not denominational. We do not perpetuate the specific beliefs of any denomination. We are not pastors in the traditional sense. We do not wish to take the place of your pastor. We do not solicit funds.

“As you go, preach this message; the Kingdom of Heaven is near.  Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons.  Freely you have received, freely give.”  Matthew 10:7,8

I love praying the scriptures with you. Thank you for the inspiration. Can you share how you select the verses for your prayers? I’d like to learn from you.
    Blessings from Sandy from Cali

    • Sandy, thank you so much for stopping by “the gate” and joining in prayers. We really have no method for selecting the scriptures used in the prayers, simply try to follow the prompting of the Holy Spirit. – the gatekeeper

Praise God for Benjamin’s Gate, for Wolf and for Robin.

  6. What an inspiring website you have provided. I knew your story from high school. And, I knew your sister for a short while. I am very happy to be acquainted with you again. Thank you for the invitation to do so. It was never God’s intention that His Church be subdivided. It was through our weakness, lack of biblical acumen, and own self interests that we find ourselves at odds with our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ through denominations. It is refreshing to find a resource such as this forum.
